LAN was born by a local group of ten young professionals, as a youth self- help group in 2012, whom by then perceived oil development as anew and strange discovery in Kenya. The inner intention was to empower the local illiterate pastoralists with accurate, reliable and informative education awareness to enhance land rights protection since land ownership was under trust land which through the community land act latter in 2016 was recognized as the largest parcel of unregistered land eyed by mega projects infrastructure development and increased appetite for land grabbers for urbanization expansion.
Land Action Network-LAN is a community-based organization founded on people’s driven initiatives. The idea and dream of her formation was generated during oil discovery in Turkana County, Kenya.
